Chihuahua Dogs
Background
Much of the chihuahua dogs specific historical origins is unknown due to its ancient beginnings, and a lack of records. However it is widely thought that they descend from the ancient Toltec dog of Mexico. These dogs were very beloved by the ancient Aztec. Many of the breeds remains have actually been found inside Aztec graves. The modern day chihuahua's looks have evolved much since then however, and currently it is the smallest of all dog the pure bred dog breeds.
Personality and Temperament
While they are sweet nature'd, they are a breed that will need to be properly socialized from a young age with children and other pets. This is a breed that is sometimes known to bond especially to one person in particular, which could cause aggression issues with any other person or animal perceived be in between the two. Also it is said that chihuahuas often do better in the company of other chihuahuas rather than other breeds. However this is by no means always the case.
They may be small but chihuahuas have lots of personality and make themselves known in a big way. They are quite alert and intelligent dogs that surprisingly make good watch dogs. Chihuahua make wonderful companions and are popular due to their compact size and jam packed personality.

The chihuahua dogs coats are generally black, tan, white, red, or a combo of these. This breed comes in two different coat types rough and smooth. Both the rough and smooth coats require occasional brushing, with the rough slightly more so.
Health Concerns
Chihuahuas generally have a lifespan of 10-18 years.
The Chihuahua's health concerns include Heart problems, luxating patella, and hypo-glycemia.
Intelligence
Chihuahuas are considered to be very intelligent, and are usually fairly easy to train. This small dog has big smarts. Chihuahua's are considered to be extremely alert, and they are always taking note of what is going on in their immediate surroundings.
Needs and Requirements for chihuahua dogs
Chihuahua's do not need long walks but would benefit from a short walk daily and a period where they get to play with someone. Otherwise the chihuahua dogs needs are minimal as they do not require much space and need only occasional brushing's to maintain their coat.
